Samuel’s & Scott LTD was a Long Beach/Lakewood, California–based studio music duo known for its lush, theatrical concept albums. Formed in 2019 by songwriter Dave Cornblum and vocalist R. Scott, the group never performed a single live show—choosing instead to focus entirely on studio recordings. Their brief but ambitious run combined elements of soul, R&B, rock opera, and narrative-driven pop into emotionally rich and genre-bending albums.
The duo’s first release, After the Rains (2020), introduced their smooth, soulful style and themes of healing, hope, and emotional rebirth. Drawing from classic R&B and spiritual pop influences, the album established their sonic identity as reflective, passionate, and cinematic.
In 2021, they released their most elaborate project, Faul! (The Musical), a concept album based on the “Paul is Dead” mythos. The record was theatrical and imaginative, with full character arcs, interludes, and a sprawling storyline. The CD version included bonus material such as “Voices from a Dream” and a new duet version of “Beautiful Disaster” featuring Chris Paul Overall. The Faul! project was also slated to evolve into a short animated/live-action film, with artist Mark Neeley and actress Natalie Gath attached. However, as of late 2025, Faul! The Movie remains unfinished and has not moved forward.
In 2023, a final release titled Turbulent Times 1.0 marked a stylistic shift toward darker, more introspective material, exploring themes of disillusionment, inner conflict, and emotional upheaval. Shortly after this release, internal tensions came to a head. R. Scott made the decision to part ways with Dave Cornblum, effectively ending the Samuel’s & Scott LTD collaboration.
Following the split, Dave Cornblum launched a new and highly personal solo career, beginning with Turbulent Times 2.0, a follow-up that carried forward the themes of uncertainty and transformation. This solo work has allowed Cornblum to fully explore his own creative voice, free from the constraints of the former partnership.
Though brief, the legacy of Samuel’s & Scott LTD remains distinct—an audacious studio project that fused emotional depth, vintage soul, and surreal storytelling into a tightly produced body of work. While the duo is no longer active, the albums continue to resonate with listeners who discover their rich sonic world.
